Fall means apples, and apples mean so many things: pies, doughnuts, cakes, crisps, tarte tatins and so much more. Apples are at their peak from late August through November. And, I love cooking with the seasons, so take advantage of the bounty.
These days, eating seasonally makes us think of roast pork, buttery mashed potatoes and a sweet-tart sauerkraut made from in-season apples and cabbage. Or, consider maple-glazed double-cut grilled pork chops with a salad of apples, endive and grapes with a cider-maple vinaigrette.
