SPICED PEARS FOR ICE CREAM

Caramelized and delicious, these pears are lovely over ice cream, pancakes, waffles or even low-fat Greek yogurt.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe but firm pears, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, toss the pear slices with the lemon juice.
- Melt the butter over medium in a large skillet with a lid over medium heat. Add in the pears, cover the pot and cook, stirring often, for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt in a small mixing bowl. After 10 minutes, stir the sugar mixture into the pears and increase the heat to medium. Cook, stirring often, until the pears are tender and glazed, about 5 minutes. Serve warm.
