SMOKED SALMON TARTAR

Cook time: 1 HourTotal time: 1 Hour

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced smoked salmon or lox
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons freshly minced chives
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Potato chips, French bread crostini or crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. On a cutting board, stack the salmon slices, then cut the slices into 1/4-inch cubes. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced smoked salmon, olive oil, capers, lemon zest, lemon juice, chives, and thyme. Season with pepper to taste.
  2. Spoon the tartar into a small bowl or ramekin and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the tartar to chill.
  3. To serve, invert the smoked salmon onto a serving plate and surround it with potato chips, crackers, or crostini.
